The young man who touched the feet of Virat Kohli during the 2nd T20I between India and Afghanistan, at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore, was welcomed with a garland and cake by his friends after being released by the police.
Virat Kohli’s fandom continues to grow as the 35-year-old is back to his best with the bat. With Kohli being in the last phase of his career, fans throng to the stadiums and fill it to full capacity.
Since demigods like Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni remain inaccessible to the general public, their die-hard fans sometimes take the unappreciative route of entering the ground during a game and touching the feet of their idol or hug them. While one might say that such fans are only expressing their emotions, not only they are breaking the rules, but also it is unsafe for the players, and causes unnecessary trouble for the police authorities.
Fan who touched Virat Kohli’s feet has been released by MP police
The Indore T20I marked the return of Virat Kohli to India’s T20I team after a gap of more than 13 months. During Afghanistan’s batting innings, one fan climbed over the spectators’ fence and entered the playing field to touch Virat Kohli’s feet and hug them when the cricketer was fielding near the boundary line.
Virat Kohli was taken aback a little by this. The ground authorities rushed in, grabbed the man, and took him away from Virat Kohli and outside the boundary line. He was then detained by the Madhya Pradesh police and was taken to the Tukoganj police station.
Initially, the identity of the man wasn’t revealed. However, he has become a sort of cult hero among his friends group as they celebrated his act of getting to touch Virat Kohli’s feet with a flower garland and cake when he returned from the police station.
Videos of this celebration have gone viral. Check it out here:
