Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman Azam Khan was strangely welcomed by the entrance song of WWE wrestler Big Show by the on-ground DJ at the University Oval in Dunedin in the third T20I against New Zealand.Β The Pakistani fans have expressed shock and disgust at the Dunedin DJ “fat-shaming” the 25-year-old cricketer.
Azam Khan doesn’t bore the appearance of a usual athlete or cricketer. But he has proven himself to be a useful, match-winning cricketer in T20 cricket, and has made it into the Pakistan team. Yet, he gets trolled on social media for his weight and body weight.
Now, it’s clear whether the DJ did it to mock Azam Khan or the cricketer himself had asked to be welcomed with Big Show’s entrance song. It wouldn’t be an anomaly had Azam specifically asked for it: South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj revealed that he had asked the ground DJs to play the ‘Ram Siya Ram’ song when he comes out to bat.
On Wednesday, fans were left surprised, and Pakistan fans enraged, when the DJ played “Here is the Big Show” as Azam Khan walked into the bat.

Pathetic from the hosts to play The Big Show’s entrance music when Azam Khan came out to bat. @TheRealPCB should take it up with @BLACKCAPS ππΌππΌππΌ #NZvsPAK https://t.co/sT2mxV7fog

Azam Khan failed to deliver once again. He was dismissed after scoring 10 runs in 7 balls by Matt Henry in Pakistan’s chase of 225, which they fell short by 45 runs.
Azam is yet to make a notable contribution in his T20I career. In 7 innings now, he has managed only 29 runs at a strike rate of 90. In the series in New Zealand, he has recorded scores of 10, 2, and 10.
New Zealand have taken an unassailable lead of 3-0 in the T20I series with two games to go.
