Indian cricket’s next superstar, Ishan Kishan, has been wowing fans with his lightning-fast batting and unbelievable wicket-keeping abilities. With his IPL debut, Kishan—who is from Jharkhand—came crashing into the scene. His performances have been regular highlights since then. He has received nothing but praise and respect from those in the know. Particularly remarkable were his nimbleness behind the wickets and his explosive batting style. Additionally, Kishan has shown remarkable versatility in his game by successfully adjusting to various forms. He keeps making his mark and has impressed onlookers in his short career.
After making his Test debut on the West Indies tour after the 2023 WTC final, Kishan demonstrated his talent by scoring fifty when Pant was out. His participation in the South Africa series was much anticipated, however, he withdrew owing to mental exhaustion. Therefore, KL Rahul had to step into the gloves. Things escalated from there, with rumours of animosity between Kishan and head coach Rahul Dravid.

According to rumours, during the Twenty20 series against South Africa, Dravid preferred Jitesh Sharma to Kishan, and Kishan was not pleased. So, in the subsequent Test series against England, Kishan was benched. At the same time, allegations started circulating that Kishan had been told to participate in the Ranji Trophy, but he ignored the order and instead trained for the IPL. The BCCI was so angered by this decision that they released Kishan from his central commitments. The BCCI has made it clear that all national team players are obligated to compete in the Ranji Trophy unless they are injured; in that case, they must notify the NCA.
Ishan Kishan’s lacklustre performance upon his return to competitive cricket has heightened doubts about his spot in the Indian side. Despite the opportunity to impress selectors in the DY Patil T20 Cup, the wicketkeeper-batsman faltered, managing only 19 runs amidst a substantial score.
