CSK to host RCB for the opening match of IPL 2024
Meanwhile, last week, the BCCI announced the schedule for the first 21 matches of the IPL 2024 season. Due to the elections in April-May, the board has withheld announcing the full schedule. The remainder of the schedule will be announced after the Election Commission of India announces the General Election dates. The first 21 games will be played from March 22 to April 7.
MS Dhoni’s CSK, who are the defending champions, will host Faf du Plessis’ RCB on March 22 at Chepauk to kick start this year’s tournament. The IPL 2024 final is expected to be slated for May 26, which will be only five days before the start of the T20 World Cup in June in the West Indies and USA.
CSK have reportedly lost the services of New Zealand opener Devon Conway as the NZC want him fit and fresh for the T20 World Cup. Ryan Rickelton is likely to be roped in as Conway’s replacement.
