[Watch] Sir Viv Richards Charges In The Field After Quetta Enter PSL Playoffs With A Last-Ball Six

Sir Viv Richards, 72 years of age, a man who has achieved everything possible as a player in the game, and yet it was the qualification of his PSL side, Quetta Gladiators, with a last-ball six, that brought him out of the dugout and elated him so much that the West Indies legend stormed into the field, passionately, and celebrate animatedly.

With four runs needed on the last ball against the Lahore Qalandars – against Shaheen Afridi no less – Mohammad Wasim Jnr of Quetta Gladiators pulled Shaheen for a six to send his side into the PSL 2024 playoffs in the grandest of styles.

While the crowd and the Quetta players on the bench and staff ran into the field to celebrate with Wasim, it was the sight of Sir Viv Richards, almost dancingly, coming onto the field with whatever energy that was left in his 72-year-old that became not only the moment of the match but the moment of the entire tournament.

Nobody could believe the scenes, not least commentator Danny Morrison, who gave an epic commentary on this moment.

Former West Indies pacer Ian Bishop, another iconic commentator, too, was astonished by this celebration and expression of passion from Viv Richards.

Bishop tweeted, “I will take a lot of memories from #HBLPSL9 with me. But this image of my guy Sir Vivian Richards charging on to the field to celebrate has to be right up there. That man, he has achieved more than most ever will in this game. & for this to mean so much to him is moving.”

Opener Saud Shakeel was named the Player of the Match for his innings of 88* runs in 65 balls in the chase of 167. Four teams have qualified for PSL playoffs – Multan, Islamabad, Quetta, and Peshawar, but the order is not yet confirmed. There are two more games to go in the league phase.
