“In 2008, I was in Australia, in the lead up to the auctions, Dinesh Karthik the person, was convinced that he was the biggest name from Tamil Nadu cricket to have played for the country. For sure, they (CSK) are going to pick me.”
He added:
I thought that they would pick me later. It’s been 13 years and I am still waiting for that elusive call from CSK,”
At that time, Chennai opted for MS Dhoni and didn’t buy DK. It was Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) who roped in DK in their squad.
Fast forward to present, DK has done extremely well for RCB and on the back of his excellent form in IPL, Karthik was even included in the 18-member squad for the upcoming 5-match t20I series against South Africa.
