“Call me ‘Tuk-Tuk’, and keep saying it, but remember I am the captain of Pakistan.”  –  Misbah-ul-Haq

The Pakistan cricket team has already landed in Australia three and a half weeks before their first match against arch rivals India. Pakistan’s captain Misbah-ul-Haq has announced that he is going to change history and beat India this time around who they have never beaten in the World Cups previously. Here we look at 5 reasons why Misbah is Pakistan’s best bet as captain and the man to watch out for.

1. Experience

Misbah Ul Haq made his debut for Pakistan in 2001. Probably one of the most experienced captains in this world cup, he is Pakistan’s best bet as captain as he is known for his big match temperament.

2. Man in form

Captains are always required to lead from the front. Misbah Ul Haq is currently in the form of his life having recently slammed the fastest Test century. His highest score in ODI’s is 96 and he would be itching to get his maiden ton in this mega event.

3. Captain Calm

He took over as captain of the Pakistani team at the age of 36 in the year 2010. It was the time when the Pakistan national team was covered under the match fixing saga against England. He was able to recollect and rebuild the team under his leadership and currently is the best man to lead the young squad.

4. Final Hurrah

Misbah Ul Haq has already announced that he would be retiring from ODI cricket after the world cup, much like Imran Khan did. This would make him play without any pressure which would in turn make him produce his best game as he would like to go out with a bang.

5.  Old is Gold

Imran Khan won the world cup as the captain when he was 39 years old. Misbah is 40. Ominous signs?
