World Cup 2015: Darren Sammy Trolls India

Darren Sammy, the West Indies all-rounder, has said that India can celebrate Holi on Friday, but West Indies will “hopefully” beat India in the pool game and celebrate victory. India’s next match is against West Indies at the WACA on Friday, on a day when India will celebrate the Hindu festival of colours, Holi.

The latest “Mauka Mauka” advertisement took a dig at West Indies and it can be assumed that Darren Sammy has reacted to it.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the West Indies training session in Perth, Sammy jocularly said, “India could celebrate Holi and we could hopefully celebrate a win.”

Darren Sammy is one of the most popular West Indies cricketers in India because of his jovial attitude during the Indian Premier League (IPL).

This statement by Darren Sammy will surely add more spice to the contest when the defending champions take on the Caribbean lads on Friday. Although, Sammy said it in good humor, this statement along with the “Mauka Mauka” ads will surely trigger the drama and excitement ahead of the clash between India and West Indies.

On a serious note, Sammy said that West Indies have the talent and capability to beat India.

“Each player has a potential to take the match away from you. If you look at our team— we got the same. From Chris (Gayle), (Dwayne) Smith, Marlon Samuels, (Lendl) Simmons, (Denesh) Ramdin, (Darren) Sammy,(Andre) Russell, Jason Holder — everybody has got the potential to take the match away. The Indian team is good but we are not going to focus only on them. Like I said before, if we do the things right we compete with the best in the world. We are going on focus on we could do and once we could do things what we could, we will see different things,” Sammy said.
