WPL 2023 Auction: Indian cricketers dominated the bidding warns in the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 auction on Monday, 13th February 2023. As many as 10 India women’s team cricketers got some stunning WPL 2023 bids in excess of Rs 1 crore.

Smriti Mandhana Created History At WPL 2023 Auction

While Indian vice-captain Smriti Mandhana created history by becoming the costliest bid in the one-day event as she joined Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs 3.40 crore, on the other hand, Mumbai Indians got a steal deal when they roped in India captain Harmanpreet Kaur for Rs 1.8 crore.

Mandhana also scripted history by becoming the first player sold at the auction for the much-awaited event. The India vice-captain also drew interest from Mumbai Indians, but in the end, RCB made the winning bid and bought her for a record amount. Harmanpreet Kaur emerged as the 7th most expensive player from India at the WPL auction.

All five franchises — Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, UP Warriorz and Gujarat Giants, went big for all-rounders at the auctions.

RCB spent a huge sum of Rs 1.5 crore on Renuka while they signed Perry for Rs 1.7 crore. Shafali Verman and Jemimah Rodrigues were picked by Delhi Capitals for Rs 2 crore and Rs 2.20 crore respectively. All-rounders Pooja Vastrakar and Richa Ghosh were bagged by MI and RCB respectively for Rs 1.90 crore. Indian all-rounder Devika Vaidya got a whopping Rs 1.4 crore bid.

2. Deepti Sharma – UP Warriorz – Rs 2.6 crore
3. Jemimah Rodrigues – Delhi Capitals – Rs 2.2 crore
4. Shafali Verma – Delhi Capitals – Rs 2 crore
5. Pooja Vastrakar – Mumbai Indians – Rs 1.9 crore
6. Richa Ghosh – RCB – Rs 1.9 crore
7. Harmanpreet Kaur – MI – Rs 1.8 crore
8. Renuka Singh – RCB – Rs 1.5 crore
9. Yastika Bhatia – MI – Rs 1.5 crore
10. Devika Vaidya – UP Warriorz – Rs 1.4 crore

The WPL 2023 will be played from March 4 to 26. The complete tournament will take place in Mumbai.
