WTC Final 2023: MS Dhoni Gave A Special Advice To KS Bharat

The Indian cricket team is all set to take on Australia in the much-awaited Final clash of the World Test Championship final at the Kennington Oval from June 7-11. Some key players will be missing from the Indian side for the marquee even including the likes of Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, and Shreyas Iyer.

Star keeper-batter Rishabh Pant will be out of action as he is recovering from multiple injuries that he suffered during a horrific accident in December 2022. In his absence, Ishan Kishan and Bharat will get an opportunity to keep in the all-important game.

Bharat was the first-choice keeper for team India for the summit clash and he might get preferred over Ishan Kishan.

ICC World Test Championship Final: "He Talked About His Experiences Keeping In England"- KS Bharat On Conversation With MS Dhoni Ahead Of WTC 2023 Final

KS Bharat Revealed MS Dhoni’s Advice For Him

Meanwhile, ahead of the upcoming WTC Final, Bharat revealed the advice he received from MS Dhoni. In an interaction with ICC, Bharat revealed that he asked for advice from Mahendra Singh Dhoni before coming to England for the WTC Final 2023 during the IPL 2023.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni shared his experience and working style with Bharat and also told him what he needs to do as a keeper in such conditions. He said:

“Recently during the IPL, I had a word with Mahendra. He (talked about) his experiences keeping in England as well as what would work the best for any wicket-keeper. It was a very good conversation and there were a lot of insights from that,”

Further, calling wicketkeeping a thankless job, Bharat added: “It is the awareness – the best example is MS Dhoni, the awareness he has in keeping is outstanding. You need intent and passion to be a keeper, because keeping is a thankless job. You keep 90 overs in a Test day and you have to be concentrating ball by ball, so you have to accept the challenges and embrace it and be really passionate about contributing to the team.”
