With Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma both failing with the bat in India’s innings of the WTC Final 2023, the fan wars were inevitably going to spark up again on social media.

While in the current climate, no fans burn effigies or pelt stones at cricketers’ houses, there are ugly fights on social media on daily basis among the Kohli and Sharma fan groups.

After toiling hard in the field for 4 and a half sessions, bowling Australia out for 469, India had a poor start with the bat.

Captain Rohit Sharma made 15, Shubman Gill scored 13, while Pujara and Kohli scored 14 runs each. Ravindra Jadeja counter-attacked with 48 runs off 51 balls before getting out to Nathan Lyon. At stumps on Day 2, Ajinkya Rahane is unbeaten on 29, joined by KS Bharat, on 5*, and India trail by 318 runs.

Further fuel to the rivalry between the two sections of fans was added by visuals of Virat having some food after his dismissal for a low score. This also triggered some fans who trolled the former India skipper. Countering this, Kohli fans reminded Sharma fans of Rohit having a banana during the India-Pakistan T20 WC 2022 match in Melbourne.

While the Indian players give their best on the field to win the match for their country, these fans fight among themselves and shamelessly bring down their countrymen.

Here are some of the tweets on this Rohit Sharma vs Virat Kohli topic during WTC Final:

Meanwhile, India lost KS Bharat on the second ball of Day 3, bowled by Scott Boland. At the time of writing, India are fightning hard to avoid follow on at 167/6. They need to score 270 runs to avoid follow-on.
