A defamation case has been filed against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper, MS Dhoni, by his former business partner Mihir Diwakar and his wife Soumya Das in the Delhi High Court.
A report in the Bar and Bench stated that the couple has asked the court to restrain Dhoni and the “people acting on his behalf from making defamatory allegations against them” after news of conflict between Dhoni and Diwakar’s management firm spread in the media earlier this month in a matter regarding an alleged violation of their contract.
A couple of weeks ago, it was reported that MS Dhoni had knocked on the doors of the Ranchi court to take legal action against Aarka Sports and Management Limited, the firm of Mihir Diwakar, accusing him of fraud that cost the CSK skipper losses of up to INR 15 crore.
Dhoni and Diwakar signed a contract in 2017 to build cricket academies in Ranchi and across India, with a vision to expand them globally. But earlier this month, Dhoni’s lawyer, Dayanand Sharma, alleged that Diwakar failed to deliver on the contract and hadn’t been responding to their complaints, forcing them to take the matter to court.
MS Dhoni’s case to be heard on January 18 in Delhi High Court

After the news spread in the media over the past dozen days, Diwakar and his wife have now approached the Delhi High Court for defamation.
Hailing from Bihar, Mihir Diwakar is a former cricketer himself who featured in 39 first-class matches, 36 List-A matches, and 7 T20 matches from 1999 to 2009. A right-arm medium pacer, Diwakar snapped 199 wickets across the three formats.
“Diwakar and Das has argued that these allegations were widely reported in the media which tarnished his image,” the report said.
“The suit has also sought directions to X (formerly Twitter) as well Google, YouTube, Meta (Facebook) and a host of news platforms to take down the allegedly defamatory articles/posts against Diwakar and Das.”
