[Video] Amid Dispute With Father, Ravindra Jadeja Dedicates Man Of The Match Award To Wife Rivaba

Ravindra Jadeja dedicated his Man of the Match award that he received following India’s 434-run win against England at his home ground in Rajkot to his wife, Rivaba, and thanked her for giving him ‘mental’ support.

While in other circumstances this would have been a normal instance of a partner thanking their partner for their support and strength. However, it’s not normal circumstances right now; it seldom does with Ravindra Jadeja.

There is a family strife going on in the Jadeja family and it recently became public when his father, Anirudhsinh Jadeja, laid allegations against Rivaba and her family for breaking up the father-son pair. Anirudhsinh claimed that his daughter-in-law, Rivaba, who is a politician, forced his son to live away from him and that he hasn’t been allowed to meet his granddaughter for the past few years. He also belives that Rivaba’s family is after the cricketer’s money.

Despite coming off a hamstring injury, and keeping all this family drama aside, Ravindra Jadeja put an all-timer performance against England, with the series leveled heading into the third Test. He scored a brilliant century in India’s first innings and then took a regular home five-wicket haul in England’s second innings to bundle the visitors out for only 122.Β This was India’s biggest margin of victory in terms of runs and England’s second-biggest defeat.

The BCCI later uploaded a video of the players sharing their views of the win. Ravindra Jadeja dedicated his Man of the Match award to his wife.

He said, “It is a special feeling to take a 5-wicket haul in the second innings. And that too, a hundred and a 5-wicket haul in the same Test is special.

“This is a special Man of the Match at my home ground. I would like to dedicate this award to my wife. She has been working hard behind the scenes, mentally. She always gives me confidence,” he added.

The third Test will be played in Ranchi from Friday.
