“Have you seen Sachin Tendulkar play?” YouTuber Wasay Habib tore into a Pakistani news show anchor when the anchor raised a thought of comparison between Babar Azam and Sachin Tendulkar!
Wasay Habib is a well-renowned YouTuber, cricket writer, and so-called analyst who, with fail, is prompt in giving his opinions on many topics in Pakistani cricket, Indian cricket, and other teams and players.
Wasay appeared on a Pakistani news show to discuss Pakistan cricket and Babar Azam in particular, wherein the news anchor asked him to compare Babar with Sachin Tendulkar. Habib was left utterly stunned at this line of comparison before exploding on an epic monologue.
Wasay Habib said, “First [comparison of Babar Azam with] Virat Kohli, then Shubman Gill, and now you have jumped to Sachin Tendulkar! Have you seen Sachin Tendulkar play? Have the fear of god please. Please don’t ask me such a question; I am a passionate cricket fan. Who are these people asking such questions? How is Babar and Tendulkar comparison possible?”
Although Wasay Habib then praised Babar Azam’s aesthetics about looking classy and elegant in his batting, he took a dig at Babar saying he would want his best batsman to win games for his team.

Earlier this month, legendary Pakistani fast bowler Wasim Akram, too, highlighted a similar point. Akram hailed Babar as a “very good” batsman and among the best in the world. However, he noted that Babar is not at the levels of Lara and Tendulkar.
“Babar is a very good player. He is among the three best batters in the world right now and he plays proper cricketing shots. Had he been a pinch hitter, then the bowler would know that he has a chance to get him out,” Wasim Akram said.
“But Babar…for players like Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar, it was difficult to bowl to them because they play good shots against good deliveries and hence gives you lesser opportunities to dismiss them. These are technically-good batters. But yes, bowl attacking lines in the first few overs just to check whether they are set on that particular track.”
Babar Azam is currently playing in the PSL 2024 where he is the leading run-scorer.
