IPL 2022: It was an El Clásico of the IPL, the clash between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, never fails to disappoint the fans on Twitter, who are always ready to churn out hilarious memes. Once again, memes galore on the season’s second Clásico between the two franchises as CSK were bowled out for 97.
They would have managed even much lesser if not for MS Dhoni scoring 36 runs; no other CSK batsman could manage more than 12 runs, while it was the extras, 15, the contributed largely to CSK’s final total.
Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first and Daniel Sams struck straightaway on the second ball of the first over with the wicket of the in-form Devon Conway, dismissing the Kiwi for a duck. However, the lbw may have been overturned had DRS been available for Conway which it wasn’t because of a power cut out.
Two balls later, it was Moeen Ali who bagged a 2-ball duck, playing an indecisive shot to a short ball from Sams. From the other end, Jasprit Bumrah, fresh from a five-for against KKR, removed Robin Uthappa, trapped lbw, before Sams got rid of the other in-form CSK opener, Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Australian speedster Riley Meredith then sent back another CSK batter, Ambati Rayudu, edging to Ishan Kishan to close out the powerplay at 32/5. Continuing his spell, soon after the powerplay, Meredith bounced out Shivam Dube.
Dhoni, who had won a last-ball thriller against MI earlier in the season, once again stood tall, taking the attack to the MI spinners Kumar Kartikeya and Hrithik Shokeen, hammering the spin pair for some pressure releasing boundaries. Dwayne Bravo joined the act launching Kartikeya over deep mid-wicket for a maximum but the chinaman dismissed the West Indian on the very next delivery and also had Simarjeet Singh lbw.
Ramandeep Singh got his maiden IPL wicket in the form of Maheesh Theekshana. Dhoni clattered Meredith for a four and a six. However, on the last ball of the over, Dhoni and the non-striker Mukesh Choudhary ran for a single after the former ducked under a short ball, but Ishan Kishan hit bull’s eye to find Choudhary short of his ground. That brought down the curtains on CSK’s innings and possibly on their playoff hopes as well.
Twitter erupted with hilarious memes as CSK crumbled one by one.
Here are some of the best memes for CSK’s collapse:

Remember Thala you can take Gambhir’s credit, Raina’s balcony, Jadeja’s captaincy but you can not take CSK to 100 runs.
