David Warner’s sensational knock of 92* runs helped Delhi Capitals defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 21 runs on Thursday at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The game was termed as the ‘revenge game’ by several experts and fans and David Warner was at his destructive best against his former franchise.
David Warner, who was the captain of SunRisers Hyderabad from 2015 to much of the 2021 season, established himself as one of the most prolific run-scorers in the history of IPL. He led SRH to victory in 2016 and had become the face of the franchise, however, things ended on a bitter note last season for Warner. It was the first time that David Warner faced SunRisers Hyderabad in the ongoing 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League.
Playing against SRH for the first time, David Warner waged a lone war as he played a destructive inning and smashed the bowlers of SRH to all the corners of the ground.
He played a stunning knock of 92* off 58 to set the perfect stage for DC. Later, Rovman Powell added to the cause and finished the innings with 67* off 35. Riding on the stunning knocks from David Warner (92) and Rovman Powell (65), Delhi Capitals managed to put up a mammoth target of 208 runs for SRH. Warner was later named the Player of the Match for his stunning knock against his former team.
Meanwhile, after the game, David Warner took to his social media and shared an emotional post. Warner shared a selfie with Kane Williamson and even wrote an emotional post for the New Zealand skipper. He wrote:
“I have missed you bro @kane_s_w #cricket #mates.”
