IND vs AUS: Anil Kumble’s Tweet For R Ashwin After He Broke His Record Has Gone Viral: Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin added another feather to his already glorious cap as he became the highest wicket-taker in the history of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia on Friday. Ashwin reached the milestone during India’s fourth and final Test against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

In the first innings, Ashwin weaved his magic yet again on a pitch that didn’t offer much help to spinners.

On a pitch, where the next best effort with the ball for India was 2/134 by pacer Mohammad Shami, Ashwin produced a sensational effort as he picked 6 wickets. Ash didn’t try many variations in his 47.2 overs in the first innings.

Instead, throughout the course of two hard days of cricket, Ash relied on his precision and maintained his composure. His economy rate of 1.92, which was second in India, is a testimony of this fact.

Among his 6 victims was Cameron Green, who gave his career-best performance and was dismissed after scoring 114 runs. He also picked the wickets of Nathan Lyon and Todd Murphy, who had frustrated India with their 34 and 41 lower down the order.

He took key wickets of Travis Head (32), Cameron Green (114), Alex Carey (0), Mitchell Starc (6), Nathan Lyon (34) and Todd Murphy (41).

Meanwhile, as Ash picked 6 wickets to become the highest wicket-taker in the history of BGT, he went past the record of Indian great Anil Kumble.

After this feat, legendary spinner Anil Kumble hailed Ash’s class after the premier off-spinner picked up a six-wicket haul against Australia. Kumble took to his twitter and wrote: “Well Bowled @ashwinravi99 Class!”

Overall, Ashwin has picked 24 wickets in the series so far with an inning left to bowl, but his spell of 6/91 in 47.2 overs will certainly go down as one of his best efforts on a flat pitch.
