Indian and Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma is hailed as one of the most destructive batters of the current generation. 2013 was a memorable year in Rohit’s career.

Sharma made his debut for the Indian cricket team in the year 2007, however, he found it difficult to cement his place in the playing XI. It was from 2013 onwards that he became a regular member in the Indian playing-XI and even went on to make the opening spot his own in the white-ball format of the game.

He made his Test debut in the year 2013. It was the same year when he became the captain of Mumbai Indians.

Yes, you read that right. Rohit joined Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League for INR 9.2 crore, however, it was in 2013 when he replaced Ricky Ponting as the captain of the franchise and from there on, he became a household name in world cricket.

In fact, in his maiden stint as captain, Rohit guided the Mumbai team to their maiden IPL title. hereafter, Mumbai won the T20 trophy in 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020 under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Mumbai Indians is now the most succesful franchises in the IPL history, having won the title of the tournament 5 times.

Rohit is once again all set to lead his side with an example in the upcoming 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League.

Why Rohit Sharma Wear Jersey Number 45 In The IPL?

Ever since Rohit made his debut in the cricketing world, he has always used 45 as his jersey number. Be it playing for Mumbai Indians or the Indian cricket team, Rohit has always wore the number 45 with pride. But what is the reason behind wearing the number 45? why the number 45 is so special for him?

Well, in an interview, Rohit had revealed the reason behind his jersey number. Crediting his jersey number to his mother, he said, “Why I am 45? It’s just my mother likes the number. Lot of numbers were taken so I asked my mother, what number I should take? So, she said 45 will be a good number for you.”
