In a dream form this year, Shubman Gill had a rare failure when he was dismissed for a duck in the 2nd ODI against Australia, on Sunday, in Visakhapatnam.
Mitchell Starc, as he did in the 1st ODI in Mumbai, continued to breathe fire with the ball and hurl down thunderbolts, and finished with a five-wicket haul this time, bowling the hosts out for 117.
Starc had dismissed Shubman Gill for 20 in the 1st ODI, at the Wankhede, the opener playing a loose shot, and was caught at point by Marnus Labuschagne.
It felt like a repeat of that dismissal in Visakhapatnam, but this time Gill couldn’t open his account and once again lobbed the ball straight to Labuschagne at point.
After getting out two times in a row in a similar fashion, Shubman Gill was upset with himself and let out a big scream. Going by his reaction, Shubman Gill was really furious with himself and rebuked self after his wicket in Vizag.

Starc and Australian pacers rattle India
Spearheaded by Mitchell Starc, the Australian pacers were on a roll in Vizag, after Steve Smith won the toss and elected to bowl first, hoping that his pacers would utilize the moisture in the surface from the rains before the match.
Steve Smith’s decision was vindicated as Starc, Abbot, and Ellis ran through the India top and middle-order, swinging it both ways and dazzling the Indian batters, leaving the hosts reeling at 49/5, which then became 71/6 with the dismissal of the set Virat Kohli.
Axar Patel was India’s top-scorer, scoring run-a-ball 29. Supporting Starc’s five-fer were 3 wickets of Sean Abbott and 2 wickets of Nathan Ellis.
Speaking after Australian bowlers’ demolition act, Sean Abbott said: “There was a bit in it with the ball today. The guys set the tone at the top – Starc and Green. Pretty important that we finished off the innings and kept looking to take wickets. We saw a clinic from Mitch today as we’ve seen before in the past.
“The conditions since we’ve arrived here in Vizag, there’s been a lot of rain and there’s a bit of humidity around. We did see a little bit of swing early and a little bit of seam. It was nice for all of us to contribute and get the ball in the right areas. We know how good the Indian team is right through down the order, so very good performance. (On using the oddd bouncer) When the wicket is nipping like that, the batter is obviously going to set up for balls attacking the stumps, so just kept their footwork guessing there.”
