3 Most Arrogant England Cricketers

England Cricketers: Because of being the origin land of Cricket, and being one of the richest cricket boards in the world, the ECB and its England men’s players have at times shown their arrogant side.

This arrogance has often channeled into their media and retired cricketers, where it seems they carry a sense of entitlement, a sort of hold over most of the other nations and their cricketers.

Even with the BCCI rising in riches and as the most powerful cricket body in the world, the ex-England cricketers and some of their current ones as well have shown that they still believe themselves to be the highest bar, the caretaker of the game and that they are above others. And not just the opposition, but some of them have even tussled with their own teammates because of their inflated egos.

Here are 3 England cricketers who are said to be arrogant and disrespectful:

England Cricketers

James Anderson

England‘s greatest bowler, James Anderson did quite a disgraceful and insulting act when he shredded R Ashwin’s photo through a shredder after being unhappy with the Indian bowler for mankading Jos Buttler during an IPL game.

This act by Anderson was received with plenty of criticism and flak in the cricket world. Not agreeing with a fellow cricketer is normal, but doing something as he did was highly disparaging. Ashwin didn’t reply to Anderson, publicly at least, but the legendary England seamer came off as disrespectful in this act of his.

Kevin Pietersen

Kevin Pietersen is unarguably the most controversial England cricket of the past 20 years. Right from the start of his career, Pietersen had issues with opponents and his own teammates. And with his stature rising in international cricket, that became more public and in the media he was regularly thrashed for his attitude and some of his actions and words.

This reached a zenith when Pietersen criticised and mocked his own England captain Andrew Strauss with some of his friends from the South African team right before a high-profile Test series. This led to a major row between Pietersen and Strauss which saw the stylish right-handed batter being dropped from the side soon on disciplinary grounds.

A few England players such as Graeme Swann and James Taylor have spoken openly about their differences with Pietersen and how Pietersen’s ego got his career down later on.

Andrew Flintoff

In the renowned website thefulltoss.com, there is an article titled: ‘If anyone’s a prick, it’s Flintoff’. That mostly sums it up the view of many people regarding one of England’s finest ever all-rounders. Flintoff has been known to create scenes and dramas under the influence of alcohol; a section of people having known him saying that his success on the field got into his head at times. He was also once stripped off his England vice-captaincy for making a furore after being heavily drunk in West Indies.

Flintoff and Pietersen also stand accused of belittling their own teammates on the high of their egos.

Another example of  his self conceited mindset was when in 2002, after winning a game against India at the Wankhede, Flintoff ran across the ground without his shirt. Sourav Ganguly duly gave back him and England when India won the Lord’s 2002 ODI final of a tri-series and waved his shirt on the Lord’s balcony.
