Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan creates world record in T20I cricket

Afghanistan’s young sensation Rashid Khan created a world record on Friday by taking the quickest five-wicket haul in T20 cricket, at the Greater Noida stadium. His figure stood 5/3 in just two overs.

His first over witnessed the departure of Kevin O’Brien and Gary Wilson on a similar delivery which both misjudged – a Googly. In his first over, Rashid Khan took 2 wickets for just 3 runs.

He then came back for his second spell in the ninth over and dismiss Lorcan Tucker on the very first ball. On the fourth delivery, Ireland’s Greg Thompson stepped out in search of a big one, but Khan outplayed him by bowling a googly. On the fifth ball, debutant Bary McCarthy was trapped in front of the stumps by Rashid and he went back without troubling the scorers.

Rashid Khan missed a hat-trick but he bowled a triple-wicket maiden, which is a rarity in any format of the game.

In this year’s IPL auction, Rashid Khan was picked by Sun Risers Hyderabad for a whooping sum of INR 3 crore.
