Mumbai Indians‘ star batter Suryakumar Yadav has been receiving praise from all corners for his blistering knock against table-toppers Gujarat Titans. He registered his maiden IPL century by playing a scintillating knock of 103* off 49 balls.
Virender Sehwag Heaped Praise On Suryakumar Yadav

During the game against Hardik Pandya’s side, Mumbai Indians opened with a powerful approach as openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan gave a flying start to the team. After their dismissal, Suryakumar took the matter into his own hands and stole the show with his incredible batting.
Suryakumar Yadav came out to bat in the 7th over and played a stunning knock of 103* runs off 49 balls, which was laced with 11 boundaries and six maximums. The Wankhede was roaring for him with every shot that he smashed.
Meanwhile, he has been receiving praise from all corners for his stellar knock. From cricketers and experts to fans, everyone took to Twitter and hailed the MI star batter for his brilliance with the bat.
Among many, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag, who is known for his destructive batting performances, showered praise on Suryakumar. He claimed that SKY possesses the quality to disturb the rhythm of bowlers with his 360-degree hitting. He said:
Speaking on Star Sports’ Studio, Virender Sehwag said: “Surya has not only dazzled Wankhede with his batting but has also enhanced the prestige of this tournament. The way GT players praised Surya, was a sight to behold. This is the epitome of the greatness of this batsman. Now, we can say with full confidence that ‘Surya Hai To Mumkin Hai’.”
He added: “Surya is playing with fielders of fine leg and square leg. He has a very good sweep shot in his batting repertoire. In doing so, Surya spoiled the rhythm of GT’s spinners and strengthened his team. On the basis of this strength, Vishnu Vinod played an entertaining and useful inning.”
Rohit Sharma Hailed Suryakumar
Later, after the game, Mumbai Indians captain, Rohit Sharma also heaped praise on Suryakumar and the confidence that he brings to the table. He said:
“ Yeah, it was an interesting game. Especially from our point of view, it was good to win the game. And in the end, the crowd got some enjoyment. That was from our perspective it was quite pleasing, to defend the total this way, not the way it ended though,”
He added:
“Till the 15th over we bowled well, but in the end the dew came in. It was a great effort from the bowlers. At the start of the game, we thought about whether we needed to go for a left and right combination, but Surya came and said NO, I want to go in. That’s the kind of confidence he brings up and rubs off on the guys who are batting with him. He comes really fresh in every game, it’s good for the Indian team too. It’s sometimes easy to sit back and be proud of it, but he doesn’t do that he just comes fresh in every game.”
Mumbai Indians will now play their next game against Lucknow on May 16th at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
