After dominating the Indian cricket team in the first ODI match, the Australian cricketers failed to continue with their form as they lost the second match to the Indian cricketers in Rajkot. The ‘Men in Blue’ were brilliant in all the departments of the game to level-up the series by 1-1.
The Australians were looking in great form and it looked that they will easily chase down the target of 340 runs given to them. However, the Indian bowlers bundled up the Australians in quick successions and India won the game by 36 runs.
David Warner and Aaron Finch, the Australian openers who took the 1st match away from India by complete domination, were once again all-set to takedown India with their performance. However, Manish Pandey took a stunner turned the tables and shattered all their hopes by sending David Warner back to the pavilion.
Steve Smith gave a brilliant performance, but unfortunately, the cricketer fell short of 2 runs to score a century. Marnus Labuschagne, who was batting for the first time in ODIs was all confident as he gave a good partnership to Steve Smith. He scored 46 runs off 47 balls, hitting 4 fours. However, the batting efforts from the Australians greats couldn’t help them win the match.
Later, in the post-match interview, Aaron Finch hailed ‘world-class’ India for their amazing performance in the match. Showering praises on the Indian cricket team, Aaron Finch said:
“They played very well. I think we were one wicket shy of what we needed throughout the bowling innings, but they were world class,”
He came up with a hilarious statement while praising Steve Smith for his thrilling performance, which left everyone in splits. He said:
“The way Smithy started today, and nearly got through to the end, but not quite. Marnus and Smith, the only time they’re apart is when they’re asleep. I think on these tracks, it’s important to capitalise when the batsman gets in.”
He also talked about what went wrong during their innings. He said:
“You just have to make sure that when you get in, you capitalise and go really big. We were just slight behind as the run rate kept going up,”
The third and decider ODI against Australia will be played at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.
