Former Indian captain and batting maestro Virat Kohli, who is hailed as one of the modern legends of the game, has been going through a terrible form off-lately. Virat Kohli’s last century came against Bangladesh in November 2019 after which the infamous century drought began for him.
Virat Kohli’s current form has become one of the most talked-about topics in the cricket fraternity, with several experts and cricketers giving their opinions on his form. With the T20 World Cup 2022 and Asia Cup 2022 just around the corner, Kohli’s form has become a grave concern for the Indian cricket team.
The latest one to share his opinion on Virat Kohli’s form is his great friend AB de Villiers. Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) teammate AB de Villiers has backed his teammate to come good in the upcoming 2022 edition of the Asia Cup. The Proteas legend has hailed his good friend as one of the greatest players to have graced the game.
Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers share a great bond of camaraderie with each other, having shared the dressing room for Royal Challengers Bangalore for over a decade.
AB de Villiers Opened Up About Virat Kohli
While several experts and cricketers have raised questions about his position in the team, however, AB de Villiers has backed Kohli to get back in the runs during the upcoming Asia Cup. In an interview with NDTV, De Villiers explained that he and Kohli are regularly in touch with each other. He said:
“Virat [Kohli] is one of the greatest cricketers ever to play the game. Form is temporary, class is permanent. Virat remains world-class. Virat and I remain in regular contact. We are friends, and he certainly does not need me to tell him the importance of working hard during a bad patch,”
Talking about Kohli, he will be next seen in action in the upcoming Asia Cup after being rested for the West Indies and Zimbabwe series. The Rohit Sharma-led team will be kickstarting their campaign in the Asia Cup 2022 with a high-voltage clash against arch-rivals Pakistan on 28th August.
