"Sore Loser" Alyssa Healy Shows Rare Soft Side By Clicking Photos For IND Women Despite Test Loss

Often dubbed as a “sore loser” by some cricket fans, Alyssa Healy showed her soft and friendly side with the opposition when on Sunday, despite the loss in the Test match at the Wankhede, she turned into a photographer for the India women team and captured the historic Indian winning team.

Harmanpreet Kaur and her side became the first Indian women’s team to defeat Australia women in a Test match. All-rounder Sneh Rana bagged the Player of the Match award. Rana snapped 7 wickets in the game.

On Saturday, tempers flared between the two captains, Alyssa Healy and Harmanpreet Kaur, with the latter having the last laugh with the Aussie skipper’s wicket.

Keeping the loss aside, Alyssa Healy remained jovial after the game and took a picture of the Indian team players who were posing with the winning trophy. She was praised by the cricket fraternity for her sportsmanship and her spirit.

The BCCI uploaded the video of this incident:

Getting bowled out in the afternoon of that first day was not ideal: Alyssa Healy

Australia went behind in the game on Day 1 itself when they were bowled out for 219 with Pooja Vastrakar and Sneh Rana sharing 7 wickets. In India’s first innings, three batters – Smriti Mandhana, Rodrigues, and Deepti Sharma – hit half-centuries; all three scored between 70 and 80 as India piled up 406 runs.

Australia showed great fight in their second innings, scoring 269 runs in 105.4 overs. A target of 75 runs for India was chased down with 8 wickets in hand.

Alyssa Healy admitted getting bowled out on Day 1 was “not ideal”.

She said: “Getting bowled out in the afternoon of that first day and letting them get to 98/0 start was not ideal. We probably didn’t adjust to the lengths quick enough. We gave them a bit too much to hit.”

Healy commended India’s spin trio of Rana, Deepti Sharma, and Gayakwad.

“Their three spinners worked really really well together and made it hard for us. At times it felt like we weren’t scoring or the game was stagnating a little bit and we couldn’t really throw a punch and get the scoring going again,” she added.
