India’s veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has finally made his comeback to India’s Test squad for the solitary Test against Bangladesh in Bangladesh, in June. Harbhajan, who has 413 Test match wickets to his credit, has replaced the left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja who hasn’t been in good form off late.
Some reports were suggesting that many big players would be rested due to back-to-back World Cup 2015 and IPL 2015, but the selectors have named a full-strength squad with no first-choice players rested.
The chairman of selection committee Sandip Patil said that Harbhajan Singh was picked considering the number of left-handers in the Bangladesh squad. Harbhajan, who is bowling well in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League, hasn’t much played first class cricket. Harbhajan played only three matches in last season’s Ranji Trophy, where he picked up six wickets with a best of 3 for 51.
Harbhajan’s selection has mainly on the back of his good show in IPL 2015 and also due to the number of left-handers in Bangladesh’s squad.
