5 Batters With Most International Runs Since 2020

5 Batters With Most International Runs Since 2020:  Cricket since the arrival of the pandemic in 2020 has changed a bit. In the rules, the bowlers can no more use saliva to shine the ball, while there have also been small changes in the DRS and other playing conditions like in-match slow over rate penalty to keep an additional fielder inside the circle if the bowling team is found guilty of slow over rate.

Nonetheless, the batters continue to have more advantage in the game and they have reined in to make the best out of the good batting conditions.

Here are the top run-scorers in international cricket since 2020:

Babar Azam – 5799 runs

Babar Azam

Pakistan captain Babar Azam is the leading international run-scorer since 2020 having amassed 5799 runs in 126 innings at an average of 49, cracking 15 centuries across formats and 42 fifties. The Pakistani skipper led Pakistan to the semi-final of the T20 WC 2021 and the final of the T20 WC 2022, making significant contributions with the bat.

Babar has also been fortunate to bat on the flat, dull, batting-friendly pitches at home in Test cricket over the past three years.

Mohammad Rizwan – 4478 runs

With no surprises, Rizwan is second on the list, right behind his captain Babar. Like Babar, Rizwan too was crucial in Pakistan reaching the knockouts of the two T20 World Cups. And even as they lost the home Test series to Australia and England, Rizwan got to pile up some big runs. He averages 46 in this period with 3 centuries and 37 fifties.

Joe Root – 4170 runs

Joe Root

Even though Joe Root is not been part of England’s T20I team for the past many years and hasn’t played a lot of ODIs as well, he is third on this list with 4170 runs at an average of 52 in 89 innings. This is a testament to his incredible form and big-knock pedigree in Test cricket over the past three-four years. Root has notched up 13 centuries and 16 fifties since 2020 and has been one of the best Test batters in the world in this period.

Litton Das – 4123 runs

For many Litton Das‘ name on this list might be a surprise, but for those who have followed him over the past four years know how good he’s been for Bangladesh recently across formats and doing the heavy lifting with the bat. Litton has 4123 runs since 2020 at an average of 36 – the T20Is bringing down this average here – with 7 hundreds and 26 fifties.

Virat Kohli – 3941 runs

India’s talisman batsman Virat Kohli sneaks into this list with 3941 runs in 113 innings at an average of 39 with 5 hundreds and 29 fifties. Kohli had suffered a slump in 2020 and 2021, but in the past 12 months, he ended his century drought in all three formats and is looking set for more runs in the coming months.
