CSK vs MI: Why Jofra Archer Is Not Playing Tonight’s Match

CSK vs MI, one of the most-awaited matches of the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League, is finally taking place at the Wankhede Stadium. Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians will be looking to register their first win of the ongoing season as they take on arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday.

The 5-time IPL champs are struggling to open their account in the ongoing tournament. They suffered a massive 8-wicket defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore in their opening game. While Mumbai Indians will make another attempt to open their account in IPL 2023, they will be without the services of their star bowler Jofra Archer.

The England star bowler won’t be a part of the playing XI. The same was confirmed by the captain Rohit Sharma at the toss.

Why Jofra Archer Is Not Playing Tonight’s Match Against CSK?

According to reports, Jofra experienced discomfort in his right elbow immediately after his first game of the season against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 2. During the game against RCB, Jofra bowled 4 overs for 33 runs. If reports are to be believed than Archer has not bowled at all since the game against RCB even though he has been attending the training sessions.

Speaking at the toss, Rohit denied any injury but stated that the pacer has not been included in the team as a precautionary measure. He said:

“One injury – not an injury but just a precaution – Jofra is not playing, but we’ve got other guys to do the job for us. Great feeling to be back at the Wankhede,”
