CSK vs RCB: Royal Challengers Bangalore is all set to square off against eternal rivals Chennai Super Kings at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in match number 24 of the ongoing IPL 24. Both the teams have a rich history in the tournament but the only thing that separates the two is that Chennai has lifted the prestigious IPL trophy several times, on the other hand, Bangalore is yet to achieve that.
Bangalore is coming into this CSK vs RCB game on the back of a solid win against Delhi Capitals, where Virat Kohli played a crucial half-century and looked at the top of his game. But the rest of the batting unit looks inconsistent at the moment. RCB’s bowling was pretty impressive as Siraj and Parnell were spitting fire inside the Powerplay and Vyshak Vijay Kumar turned out to be a surprise package as he picked up three wickets.
Talking about Chennai Super Kings, the MS Dhoni-led side lost their previous game in a heartbreaking way as they lost by 3 runs and that too at their home ground. The team will be looking forward to bouncing back in the game with a win against rivals RCB and moving up in the points table. Ravindra Jadeja has been very impressed with the ball and he has done quite well as well. Top 3 batters — Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, and Ajinkya Rahane are expected to play a key role in the upcoming game.
RCB won the toss and elected to bowl first.
The RCB skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to ball first. Faf revealed the team changes while speaking at the toss. He said:
“Incredible noise!! We will bowl first. I think the nature of pitches will turn, but 180-200 will be a nice target to change. It is quite a small ground and the ball travels, the surface is good and a little bit of dew could help. No changes in our starting XI but got some tricks up our sleeve for the impact player.”
CSK captain MS Dhoni spoke about his decision on the team changes due to the recent injury woes. He said:
“The toss does matter because this is a venue where it is difficult to contain batters in the second innings. And not to forget dew. I think what’s important is not looking ahead, maybe 180-200 is a par score but we need to keep re-evaluating every 3-4 overs on where we stand and what would be a good total to get to. That is a better way to approach, rather than keeping a total in mind. One change – Magala is injured and Pathirana comes in. The good think is all the players who have come in to replace guys have performed well.”
