Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians made a jailbreak on Sunday night at the Wankhede to defeat Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals to chase down the target of 213 with 3 balls to spare.
After Yashasvi Jaiswal’s brilliant century (124 off 62 balls), MI didn’t have a good start, losing Rohit Sharma (3 off 5) early in the chase and Ishan Kishan (28 off 23) struggling for boundaries. But their middle-order trio made it all possible – Cameron Green (44 off 26), Suryakumar Yadav (55 off 29) and Tim David (45* off 14) finished it off with 3 sixes in the last over off Jason Holder.
Here’s why Rohit’s fans are calling Sanju Samson “cheater”

Rohit’s dismissal, though, was marred with a bit of controversy, one which Sanju Samson is facing flak from some Rohit fans who are even calling the RR captain a “cheat”.
Sharma got out in the second over of the chase, bowled by a slower ball from Sandeep Sharma. Rohit moved on the leg side to go for a big slog, but Sandeep’s lack of pace deceived him and he missed the ball that hit the top of the off-stump and dislodged the bail.
However, a section of Rohit’s fans have launched an attack on Samson, saying that it was the RR wicket-keeper who dislodged the bail with his gloves and acted that the ball had hit the stumps.
So what is the truth?
Sanju is innocent here and as can be seen in this video, his gloves were a distance away from the bail. Sandeep’s delivery hit the top of the off-stump and the bail fell from that effect. Rohit was clearly out and Samson didn’t cheat.
This video from the side on angle shows Sanju Samson was far from stumps, and the ball dislodged the bails in Rohit Sharma's dismissal. Sometimes pictures from specific angles depict a completely different story. #RohitSharma #IPL2023 #MIvsRR pic.twitter.com/KXcT1RdEJu

“Very pleasing to see how we chased this. Last game here also we came close to a similar target. We have the ability but need to back ourselves. (On David being next Pollard) Big shoes to fill, Polly for so many years won us so many championships. But Tim has so much ability and power. In the back end, having that power keeps the bowler thinking,” the MI captain said.
