The 23-year-old Gill is having an emphatic 2023 in ODI cricket, having amassed 1449 runs in 26 games at an average of 66, notching up 4 centuries, including a double hundred. However, he hasn’t had the best of the World Cup 2023 tournament, managing 219 runs in 6 innings, with half-centuries against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Nonetheless, Babar Azam, too, is having a tough time in the World Cup with the bat. Even though he has 4 fifties in 8 innings, Babar has failed to convert them in a big score. Babar Azam had been at the top of the rankings for two years, but now has finally been displaced by Gill.
