Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh has been receiving criticism from all corners after his poor performance against Sri Lanka in the 2nd T20I match. Arshdeep had a nightmare outing against Sri Lanka in the 2nd T20I at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune as team India was defeated by Sri Lanka to level the series by 2-2.

Returning to the fold after missing out on the series opener, Arshdeep Arshdeep bowled back-to-back three no-balls in his first over that completely shifted the momentum towards the visitors after a good first over from captain Hardik Pandya. Arshdeep eventually gave away 19 runs off his first over, where he conceded a six and a four off two of the three free hits. Arshdeep ended up bowling five no-balls to enter his name in the history books for all the wrong reasons. With this he became the first Indian bowler to bowl three no-balls on the trot in his first over of a T20I match.

Arshdeep has now bowled the most number of no-balls by an Indian bowler in the T20I format. rshdeep’s no-ball count went up to 12 in T20Is as he overstepped the mark on five occasions during the 2nd T20I.

While the pacer has been receiving criticism from all corners for his poor outing, veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batter Karthik has extended his support to the under-fire fast bowler. Dinesh Karthik took to his social media and explained why Arshdeep failed to make an impact in his comeback match at Pune. He wrote:

“You’ve got to feel for Arshdeep Singh , just lack of match practice. It’s never easy #INDvsSL,”

During the game, Arshdeep didn’t complete his full quota of overs in the 2nd T20I against Sri Lanka. He bowled only two overs and leaked 37 runs. Umran Malik (3) shared five wickets with Axar Patel (2) as Sri Lanka posted a match-winning total.

Riding on the stellar performance of Dasun Shanaka (56 off 22), Sri Lanka posted 206-6 in 20 overs. Later while bowling, he also picked 2 wickets to help the team to win by 16 runs.
