Dinesh Karthik Shared An Emotional Tweet After Team India Recall

It was the painful day of the 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand, in Manchester, that Dinesh Karthik last represented India. It was a really surprising call when he was dropped from the T20I team after that, given Karthik was in good form in the shortest format.

Just a month less than three years to that day, Dinesh Karthik will be expected to be seen donning the India blues once again. This time, in the best form of his life, having the clarity of mindset he has always chased his career.

Only 10 days short of his 37th birthday, Karthik has been given another opportunity to write in his topsy-turvy international career – when he was announced in the squad for the upcoming 5 T20I series vs South Africa.

This time, though, he has broken the door down on the national selectors with his stunning performances in the IPL 2022 – that many are claiming him as the best finisher in the country.

Carrying the RCB batting line-up for most of the time this season, Karthik has struck 287 runs at a strike rate of 191; no other batter with over 200 runs in the tournament has a higher strike rate than Karthik; in the death overs, his strike has been a staggering 226! Karthik’s form that has got everyone excited, that has got the crowds chanting “DK, DK”, has helped RCB into the playoffs.

Being out of the national side for the past three years, Karthik had kept the belief in himself and worked hard to make things fall into the right places. And he’s vowed to continue working hard further to cement a place for the flight to Australia for the T20 World Cup later in the year.

The Nidahas Trophy final hero took to Twitter to express his emotions.

“If you believe yourself, everything will fall into place! Thank you for all the support and belief…the hard work continues,” Karthik tweeted soon after his name was announced in the squad.
