Royal Challengers Bangalore secured their first win in IPL 2024 by defeating PBKS by 4 wickets at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Karthik’s impressive performance, scoring 28 runs off 10 balls, helped RCB clinch the victory on their home ground. Despite being 38 years old, Karthik has shown good form this season, scoring 66 runs in two matches without getting out.
Dinesh Karthik Wants To Make A Comeback For Team India
The day after Royal Challengers Bangalore’s victory against Punjab Kings, Dinesh Karthik shared a joke on the social media platform ‘X’ about 2024 being a World Cup year. Karthik’s last appearance for India was in the 2022 T20 World Cup, where the team was eliminated in the semi-finals after a heavy defeat to eventual champions England.
In that tournament, Karthik scored only 14 runs in three innings. He was subsequently left out of India’s semi-final match against England, with Rishabh Pant taking his place.

DK is experiencing a revival in IPL 2024 after a disappointing performance last season. In the previous season, he scored only 140 runs in 13 matches, averaging 11.67 with a strike rate of 134.62. This decline came after he was excluded from the Indian team due to his underwhelming performance in the T20 World Cup.
Since then, Karthik has been involved in commentary and also participated in the 2023 Vijay Hazare Trophy for Tamil Nadu. In the tournament, he scored 245 runs in six innings at an average of 49, including two half-centuries.
In IPL 2024, Karthik has made significant contributions for RCB. He played a superb unbeaten innings of 38 runs off 26 balls against Chennai Super Kings. Later, he played another crucial knock, scoring 26 runs off just 10 balls, helping RCB secure a match-winning victory against PBKS in Bengaluru.
In the chase of 176 runs against Punjab, Karthik showcased nerves of steel as he played a pivotal role in RCB’s 4-wicket triumph over PBKS. With 23 runs required in the last two overs, Karthik remained composed and guided RCB to victory with four balls to spare. In a display of sheer class, he struck a six and a four off Arshdeep Singh’s bowling in the final over, sealing the game for his team in impressive fashion.
