England captain Alastair Cook offended by Pakistan’s military-inspired celebrations

England’s Test captain, Alastair Cook has taken offence to Pakistan’s military-inspired celebration at Lord’s Cricket Ground after winning the first Test. Pakistan came into this Test match under a lot of pressure as this is the same ground where they lost their respect and 3 of their players were banned for spot-fixing. But they gave a very spirited performance and defeated England on day 4 of the Test match.  After the win, Younis Khan had lined up his squad on the outfield to do salutes and push-ups in honour of the soldiers who trained them during a pre-tour camp back home on which a frustrated Cook – who also branded his batsmen ‘naïve’ for their failure to deal with leg-spinner Yasir Shah.

This is what Alastair Cook said about Pakistan’s military-inspired celebration:

According to Daily Mail,  he said, ‘It’s never nice to lose at Lord’s and see the opposition like they were at the end. ‘We will use that as motivation. I did not take offence, but certainly at that moment in time it is not pleasant for the first 20 minutes when you have just lost a game of cricket. They are entitled to do what they want. Obviously it is united them and it shows what a challenge we have got in the next game. But the cricketing gods…Cook’s comments, left ominously dangling in the air, came after his former England team-mate Tim Bresnan tweeted his reaction to the Pakistani press-ups: ‘That might bite you, boys. Carma [sic] catches up with you eventually. It did with the Sprinkler.’
