Pandya, who returned to Mumbai Indians after leading Gujarat Titans for two years, including a title win in their debut season and a runner-up finish in the previous edition, sealed the trade ahead of the ongoing IPL season.
During his time with Mumbai Indians from 2015 to 2021, Pandya was an integral part of the team, which is joint-most successful in IPL history.
Since taking over the captaincy upon his return to Mumbai Indians, Pandya has faced challenges. The team has suffered three consecutive defeats in the ongoing season, including a heavy loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad, where the MI bowling attack struggled.
Mumbai Indians began their season on a disappointing note, losing their opening match to Pandya’s former team, Gujarat Titans, by 6 runs in Ahmedabad.
After two away losses, Mumbai Indians faced the Rajasthan Royals at home in Wankhede Stadium, hoping to reverse their fortunes. However, they suffered another defeat as the Royals secured a comprehensive victory with 6 wickets and 27 balls to spare. Mumbai Indians currently sit at the bottom of the league standings without any points after three games. They will aim for a change in luck when they face Delhi Capitals at home on April 7th.
