Sanju Samson, the right-handed batsman who made his T20I debut in the year 2015 for India. Though he has played four T20Is in the India jersey, he has made a name for himself in the domestic circuit and Indian Premier League.
Sanju Samson rose to fame with his gutsy knocks for Rajasthan Royals in his debut season in the IPL and since then there have been no turning backs for the cricketer. Sanju was groomed by none other than ‘the Wall’ of the Indian cricket team, Mr. Rahul Dravid. In his last season for Rajasthan Royals, Sanju Samson scored 340+ runs, with the help of a century.
In the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League, Sanju Samson has made a stunning comeback. After smashing a 32-ball 74 against Chennai Super Kings to power his team Rajasthan Royals to a 16-run win on Tuesday, Sanju Samson was at it again during the match against Kings XI Punjab last night.
In the match against KXIP, Sanju Samson walked to bat after Steve Smith was dismissed and he was successful in keeping the chase on track. Samson was adjudged the Man of The Match award for his stunning 42-ball effort, where he scored 81 runs including 4 fours and 7 sixes.
Among many, Indian politician Shashi Tharoor also took to his twitter and joined the bandwagon. In his Tweet, Shashi Tharoor heaped in praises for Samson and the incredible knock played by him. He also revealed how when Samson was only 14-years-old, Shashi had told him that one day he will become the next MS Dhoni. He wrote:
“What an absolutely incredible win for @rajasthanroyals! I’ve known @iamSanjuSamson for a decade & told him when he was 14 that he would one day be the next MS Dhoni. Well, that day is here. After his two amazing innings in this IPL you know a world class player has arrived.”

The tweet of Shashi Tharoor soon went viral and was flooded with reactions from Twitterati. While many agreed with Shashi Tharoor, the one who didn’t was the former Indian cricketer and World Cup hero, Gautam Gambhir.
Gautam Gambhir was quick to notice the tweet and come up with a reply to it. In his tweet, Gambhir shut Shashi Tharoor up by claiming that Sanju doesn’t need to be the next anyone as he will be ‘the’ Sanju Samson. He wrote:
“Sanju Samson doesn’t need to be next anyone. He will be ‘the’ Sanju Samson of Indian Cricket.”
