Former Indian coach, Gary Kirsten is regarded as one of the greatest cricketers to have played the game of cricket. After taking team India to heights, Gary Kirsten went on to coach the South African team and even Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. However, he has been struggling for success since then.
Recently, Gary Kirsten met Bollywood actor Anupam Kher, who after his lecture met the former coach at an institute in Boston. Anupam Kher later took to his Twitter handle and shared pictures from their meeting where the actor went gaga over Kirsten, terming it ‘refreshing’ to talk to him.
In his tweet, Anupam Kher revealed how he talked about various things with Kirsten. He also revealed the name of Kirsten’s favorite cricketer. And unsurprisingly, Gary’s favorite cricketer is an Indian and the one he has coached before during his stint with India.
One could expect Sachin Tendulkar to be his favorite, however, Gary’s favorite cricketer is none other than the former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni and the one who took the Indian cricket team to new heights under his leadership.
Anupam Kher, who played the role of MS Dhoni’s father in his biopic, expressed his feelings about their meeting and wrote:
@indiaconf2020 was with some amazing people! But highlight was meeting the great cricketer & former Indian coach @GK_CA. Chatting with him was so refreshing. Happy to know that Dhoni is his most favourite cricketer. Jai Ho!! ???”
