Harsha Bhogle Gave A Brilliant Reply On Trent Boult’s Debate: World-class fast bowler Trent Boult left everyone in shock after he was released from his central contract with the New Zealand Cricket (NZC) at his own request on Wednesday. Trent Boult asked the NZC to release him from the central contract in order to spend more time at home with his family.
Trent Boult Was Released From His Central Contract
The 33-year-old, who has played 70 Tests and 137 limited overs internationals ever since he made his debut in 2011, will continue to play for his country, however, will have a significantly reduced role. New Zealand Cricket via their official Twitter account confirmed the news. The BlackCaps wrote:
“NZC has agreed to release Trent Boult from his central contract so that he can spend more time with his family, while also making himself available for domestic leagues. Boult will complete the tour of the West Indies as scheduled.”

Boult Opened Up About His Big Decision
In an NZC statement, Trent Boult expressed his feelings and thoughts behind the big decision he took. He admitted how the decision was a tough one for him. He said:
“This has been a really tough decision for me and I’d like to thank NZC for their support in getting to this point. Playing cricket for my country was a childhood dream and I’m so proud of everything I’ve been able to achieve with the BLACKCAPS over the past 12 years.”
He added: “Ultimately this decision is about my wife Gert and our three young boys. Family has always been the biggest motivator for me and I feel comfortable with putting it first and preparing ourselves for life after cricket.”
Further, he said that understood the move would diminish his chances of playing for the New Zealand national team. He said:
“I still have a big desire to represent my country and feel I have the skills to deliver at the international level. However, I respect the fact that not having a national contract will affect my chances of selection.”
He added: “Having said that, as a fast bowler I know I have a limited career span, and I feel the time is right to move into this next phase.”
Harsha Bhogle Gave A Perfect Reply To The Fan
Meanwhile, the news was welcomed with mixed reactions from the fans on Twitter, with many disappointed they won’t be able to see the talented pacer in action often in international cricket. There were many who started slamming the cricketer for choosing a different path.
Among many, former commentator Harsha Bhogle has opined his views on Trent Bout’s decision of giving priority to T20 leagues instead of playing International cricket with New Zealand. Bhogle feels that even more players will be picking this option as it is very difficult to manage both international cricket and domestic T20 leagues at the same time. Bhogle Tweeted:
“The decisions that Quinton de Kock, and specifically Trent Boult, have made, point to a future of shorter international careers and more players happy to be part of the gig economy. With young families, it isn’t easy to play both, international cricket and T20 leagues,”

In his other tweet, Bhogle also slammed the fans for calling Trent selfish about the same. He wrote:
“With regard to the Boult decision, and others in recent times, I hear people talking of greed and opportunism. But do remember cricketers finish their playing careers when most others are entering their best phase. And we change jobs that offer more money and convenience, no?,”

However, a fan tried to troll Harsha, while calling out Boult for his ‘greedy’ decision. The fan wrote: “that is a whole lot of words to just describe the word, “greed” in one tweet.”
Responding to the same, Harsha Bhogle came up with a perfect reply to the fan’s tweet. He wrote: “I am sure you take decisions based on what is right for your family and your income, Vedant. This is no different.”
