The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), recently, named a 15-member squad for the Asia Cup 2022 starting August 27. The team will be led by Rohit Sharma and will see the return of main players — Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. Young wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan happened to be one of the notable omissions.
Ishan Kishan, who was picked for a whopping ₹15.5 crore at the IPL 2022 mega auction back in February this year, didn’t have the best of the season this time. In 14 innings, Ishan scored 418 runs at an average of 32.15 including three half-centuries even though Mumbai Indians failed to make it to the playoffs. Ishan was then picked for the home series against South Africa in June, where he scored two half-centuries.
Ishan Kishan Shared A Cryptic Post
Despite his performances, he wasn’t given many chances in England and West Indies – only two games off six games. His scores in the last six international innings read 27, 15, 3, 8, and 11, which could have been one of the reasons why he was ignored from the Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2022.
Meanwhile, reacting to his exclusion from Asia cup 2022, Ishan Kishan took to his social media and shared a cryptic post, expressing his disappointment. Sharing a picture of himself, Ishan shared the part of the song, which said: ‘Ab aisa banna nahi, bhale ghayal ho jana. Tujhe phool samjhe koi, tu fire ho jana”, which translates to “Don’t become something else even if it pains you. If someone considers you a flower, become a fire.”
