IND vs SA: BCCI Gives A Big Update On The Tour

IND vs SA: India’s tour of South Africa is surrounded with doubts and dilemmas after the outbreak Omicron variant of COVID-19, with cases being reported in many parts of the world, including South Africa.

Fans and media have been consistently asking the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to make an official statement on IND vs SA as the tour carries great important for fans, nit just in India and South Africa, but across the world.

IND vs SA: BCCI Gives A Big Update On The Tour

Earlier, the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had said the tour is on but the BCCI will take call at the right time.

“The tour (IND vs SA) is on as things stand till now. We still have time to decide. The first Test is scheduled from December 17. We will ponder about it,” Sourav Ganguly told reporters on the sidelines of a promotional event. 

But the BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has now confirmed that Team India will tour South Africa, but with a little change in the initial schedule. India will tour only for the Test and ODI series, and the four T20Is will be played at a later date. This decision was took at BCCI’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on the 4th December.

It is also being reported that India’s squad for IND vs SA will be announced after the completion of the ongoing Test match between India and New Zealand, and Team India’s departure which was earlier scheduled on the 8th December will now be delayed and things on that front will be cleared only after the BCCI will announce the new schedule.

Fans are now hoping that IND vs SA is going to be a cracking series as the three-match Test series is going to be a part of the World Test Championship and it would be a huge opportunity for Team India to take an early lead.
