India One Day International (ODI) captain MS Dhoni and debutant Bangladesh left-arm fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman were fined 75 percent of their match fees for on-field collision between Bangladesh and India on Thursday, by match referee Andy Pycroft.
“Skipper Dhoni along with administrative manager Biswarup Dey were present during the hearing. Now Mustafizur along with members of team management have gone into present their case. The Indian team management is hoping for Level I charge to be pressed against Dhoni so that it ends with a fine only. A Level 2 offence may lead to ban,” a source said.
Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman tried to come in Dhoni’s way and block his path. Dhoni, who is known for his calm and composed conduct on the field, showed anger by smashing his elbow into Mustafizur ribs. Being pushed by Dhoni with his shoulder, Mustafizur felt little discomfort. However, the umpires were quick enough to clear any misunderstanding.
