India will begin their tour of West Indies with a two-day practice match and a three-day warm-up game at St. Kitts from July 9 and 14 respectively. The first Test match of the series will be played at Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground, Antigua, on July 21. Roland Holder, Head of operations at the West Indies Cricket Board, said that the venues “are ready to host the visiting Indian team.” The series initially was in doubt after the West Indies pulled out of the India tour midway in 2014. As a result, the Board of Control for Cricket in India imposed a penalty of $41.97 million as damages which was later waived off.It was also revealed that the West Indies would return in 2017 to ‘complete’ the series.
