Former England skipper Michael Vaughan is one of the most popular cricketers on social media. He is known for his witty tweets and comments, which never fail to attract a lot of reactions from the users. And yet again, the former cricketer was back with a cheeky tweet.
Well, after day 5 of the 1st Test match was ruined after rain interrupted the play, Vaughan found a way to entertain the fans with a cheeky tweet.
After bundling up the England cricket team at 303 runs, team India seemed the favorites to win the first test match as they needed 157 more runs with 9 wickets in hand. However, the weather had some other plans.
After the game was ruined, Michael Vaughan took to his Twitter and came up with a funny remark on the situation. He wrote:
“Looks like Rain may be saving Indian here … ? #ENGvIND”

The tweet went viral in no time and Vaughan was able to stir a debate among the fans once again. The Indian fans weren’t too impressed with the tweet of Vaughan and started trolling him left, right and center. Many slammed Vaughan for trying to create an unnecessary rift.
Here, check out the reactions of Twitterati on this:
First you said grass, India put in 278. Now India has an equal chance of winning and you bring in rain. I would worry more about English mugs rather than India who have been one of the most competent traveling sides

For once try and be realistic. Its England that are saved from defeat in 1st test. With all its experience ECB would do well to schedule cricket at venues and during the part of year that are less impacted by rain. Or do they do it knowingly to avoid defeat?

England should be banned from hosting test matches…worst country to host wtc matches… India was on the verge of a win…and for Vaughan it’s better to stop ur verbal diarrhoea ???

Looks like Eng don’t want rain to stop….btw. …hats off to the confidence of this man India needs 157 to win with 9 wickets remaining….and according to his theory Indians are being saved by the rain ???

You have better luck fishing at Trent Bridge than on Twitter, you’re trying to cause riots across India!

I understand what you are saying based on past results however on a given day anything is possible if we Indians don’t loose too many wickets in the first hour of play.

This isn’t the first time that Vaughan stole all the limelight with the tweet. He also often gets into debates with former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer. The fun banter between the two is highly anticipated and enjoyed by the fans.
After the games were drawn, Wasim Jaffer also came up with a similar tweet and wrote how the rain saved the England cricket team. He wrote:
“Rain saved England but lots of positives for India this test:
@MdShami11 2 wkts in an over @ 138-3.
@klrahul11 and @ImRo45 opening.
@imjadeja and the tail.
@mdsirajofficial and @imShard with crucial breakthroughs.
And @Jaspritbumrah93 throughout.
Team performance Clapping hands sign #ENGvIND”
