IPL 2022: Australian Journalist Wrote A Special Tweet For Virat Kohli

Australian Journalist Wrote A Special Tweet For King Kohli’s Return To Form: Virat Kohli’s scintillating half-century setup Royal Challengers Bangalore’s comfortable 8-wicket victory over the Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede in their last league fixture.

Kohli scored 73 runs off 54 balls in the run-chase of 169; he and Faf du Plessis, who scored 44 off 38, forged a 115- run opening stand before Glenn Maxwell completed the chase with a grand flourish, smashing 40 off 18 balls.

As Kohli was stroking his shots on the Wankhede turf, renowned Australian journalist Chloe-Amanda Bailey too was on fire with her tweets, lauding, admiring, drooling over the ‘King’.

“Heck yes! This is the Virat Kohli I stay up all night to watch! He’s is on FIRE! Good opening partnership too here from the boys,” tweeted Chloe-Amanda Bailey, who is well-known as a huge RCB and Kohli supporter.

Kohli had plenty of luck too going his way at the start of his innings, something which was almost pleading to god after getting out in an unfortunate manner vs Punjab.

He first announced himself today with an authoritative straight batted boundary off Mohammed Shami and then a lofted cover drive.

Then the ‘King’ got his rub of the green: an inside edge off Hardik Pandya’s in-seamer raced for four, seeing which Kohli was overjoyed and celebrated as if he’d hit his 71st century. The next ball, a whip toward deep square leg where Rashid Khan, for some reason, was standing well inside the boundary line and then split a catch which he attempted to take one-handed.

He capitalised thoroughly on his good fortunes today. The right-hander smacked Rashid Khan down the ground followed by another charge down the pitch and a pull boundary to seamer Yash Dayal bringing up RCB’s fifty inside the powerplay. While Faf du Plessis tickled along at a little over run-a-ball, Kohli continued with his momentum after the powerplay.

In the 10th over, he notched up his half-century via a superb whip six off Rashid over deep mid-wicket off 33 balls. Kohli looked up to the gods, his hand raised toward the diety, expressing his gratitude for all the godsend he had today.

He hammered the leggie for another biggie but finally, the Afghani had his revenge having the opener stumped out. The Wankhede crowd and the entire RCB dugout were up on their feet, applauding the return of the King.

For Chloe-Amanda Bailey, though, the Kohli that we know never left!

“Some saying the King is back, others know he never really left,” she tweeted after Kohli’s thrilling knock came to an end.

This win, with 8 balls to spare, took RCB to fourth position in the points table; they now have 16 points and will be praying for Delhi Capitals, who have 14 points, to lose their last league game against Mumbai Indians.
