For the second consecutive game, the Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant was involved in a heated argument with the umpires, once again regarding a waist-high no-ball. On Thursday, the Capitals took on Shreyas Iyer‘s Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium.
Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to bowl first, a decision which his bowlers vindicated by slashing KKR to 85/6 by the end of the 14th over, The Capitals were on top of the game by the 16th over as KKR were 101/6 before Pant decided to bowl another over of Lalit Yadav which proved to be costly.
Pant had a tussle with the umpires in this over when Lalit bowled a waist-high full toss to Nitish Rana, the batter clubbed it for a maximum over deep point. The leg-side umpire was quick to call it a no-ball.
While it was a clear no-ball even in real-time, Pant was unhappy with something and he walked aggressively toward the umpire Anil Kumar Chaudhary for a chat, who kept a smile and explained why it was a no-ball to the wicket-keeper.
Pant seemed to have suggested that the ball was at the waist height and not above it but Anil Chaudhary had made the decision and clarified to Pant that it was indeed an illegal delivery.

Sunil Gavaskar, speaking as a commentator at the instant, was quick to remind everyone that Pant had a similar incident in DC’s last game, versus Rajasthan Royals when what seemed like a no-ball then to Rovman Powell in the last over, by Obed McCoy, wasn’t given a no-ball. Harsha Bhogle, the other commentator, recalled that Powell in that instance was crouching a little and was outside of his crease while Nitish Rana here was well inside his crease.
Rishabh Pant had created a massive incident then, even gesturing to recall his batters before asking assistant coach Pravin Amre to run to the umpires and have a chat. Pant then copped a 100 percent match fee fine. Here, there was no such protest from the Delhi skipper and he was quick to accept the umpire’s decision.
