IPL 2023: Sri Lankan cricketers Maheesh Theekshana and Matheesha Pathirana are all set to join the Chennai Super Kings’ squad for the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League. Both the Sri Lankan players had to miss the first few games of the IPL 2023 because of their national commitments. Theekshana and Pathirana were a part of the Sri Lanka squad in the recently-concluded three-match T20 series against New Zealand.
Maheesh Theekshana And Matheesha Pathirana All Set To Join CSK Camp
The Sri Lankan duo was retained by Chennai Super Kings ahead of the Indian Premier League 2023 mini-auction. They are now all set to join the Chennai Super Kingscamp on Monday, April 10 and they will be available for Chennai’s upcoming game against the Rajasthan Royals at the Chepauk Stadium on Wednesday, April 12.
Theekshana, who was bought by Chennai Super Kings for INR 7 lakh in the IPL 2022 mega auction, made his debut for the yellow franchise in the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2022 edition. So far, he has played in 9 games for the franchise and has picked up 12 wickets with an economy rate of 7.46. On the other hand, Pathirana has only two wickets in two games under his name in the IPL with an economy rate of 7.61.
Chennai Super Kings Looking Weak In Bowling Department
Meanwhile, the arrival of these two bowlers would do wonders for the MS Dhoni-led side, which is currently looking weak in its bowling department. Theekshana could play a vital role for Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing season along with other spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Mitchell Santner.
