Chennai Super Kings defeated defending champions Gujarat Titans to win their 5th title of the league. In a rain-hit, high-scoring final match, CSK successfully chased down the target of 171 runs in their given 15 overs.
Mohit Sharma, who became Hardik Pandya’s go-to man in the season, was sensational with the ball last night as well. He rocked the CSK’s chase with the crucial wickets of Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni but Ravindra Jadeja stayed calm and smashed two important shots to take his side to the winning lines. He almost won the game for his team. Mohit started off brilliantly, executing some perfect t yorkers however, that wasn’t just enough.
The situation of the thriller came down to a spot, where CSK needed 10 runs from the last two balls of the game to seal the win. Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja smashed two stunning sixes and stole the game from Gujarat Titans.
Jimmy Neesham posted a hard-hitting tweet
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Jimmy Neesham, who is a key member of New Zealand’s white-ball teams, took to his social media and talked about the last over of the IPL 2023 final, bowed by Mohit Sharma. In his Tweet, Neesham claimed that while the first four balls of the overs were pinpoint, but the 5th and the 6th ball of the over missed the trick by 6 inches.
He slammed the fans who support ‘just bowl yorkers’ at death bowling. He wrote:
“Just saw a replay of the last over. I think it needs to be said: for an over of 6 Yorkers that is almost perfect from Mohit. First 4 were pinpoint and balls 5 and 6 missed by maybe 6 inches.
Goes to show the “just bowl Yorkers” crowd that death bowling doesn’t work like that.”
