Maharaj has developed a fan-following among Indians and gets the headlines whenever he comes out to bat with the song ‘Ram Siya Ram’ playing in the background.
This first happened during the World Cup 2023 in India and then in home matches against India last month. Keshav Maharaj, who is currently leading the Durban Super Giants in the SA20 2024 competition, revealed that he would personally ask the ground DJ to play the ‘Ram Siya Ram’ song when he comes to bat.
“Obviously, something that I put forward to the media lady and requested that song to be played. For me, God has been my greatest blessing, giving me guidance and opportunity. So, it’s the least that I can do and it also just gets you in your zone. It’s a nice feeling walking out (into the ground) to hear ‘Ram Siya Ram’ playing in the background,” the spinner said.
