India defeated Zimbabwe by 8 wickets in 2nd ODI at Harare Sports Club, to seal the three-match ODI series 2-0, with one match still to go. This is MS Dhoni‘s first series victory since October 2014. Since then, MS Dhoni has lost ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 and ICC World T20. Interestingly, MS Dhoni is the only captain to have lifted both, ICC Cricket World Cup and ICC World T20 trophies.
MS Dhoni is undoubtedly India’s most successful limited-overs cricket captain, but last 9 months or so were a bit difficult for him as a captain. Having said this, it would be just fair to add that India lifted the Asia Cup 2016 trophy under MS Dhoni’s able leadership only. But apart from that, it hasn’t been easy going for Captain Cool.
Dhoni is leading a very young Indian team against a “weak” Zimbabwe side and this series win won’t affect Dhoni’s cricket approach but it at least broke the losing streak.
